lung cancer treatment guide

The continuous and uncontrollable growth of cells present in the lungs is known as lung cancer. There are basically two types of lung cancer namely small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer. The major factors that are responsible for lung cancer are second-hand smoker, exposure to toxins, and family history.

There are several ways for the treatment of lung cancer and the treatment depends upon several factors such as type of lung cancer and how far it is spread. Generally, patients suffering from non-small cell lung cancer can be treated through targeted therapy, chemotherapy, surgery, Radiation therapy, or a combination of these therapies. All of the above-mentioned treatment methods are successful when the present health condition of the patient responds positively due to treatment.

The most recommended therapy at the primary stage is chemotherapy when combined with Radiation therapy however with the advancement of disease Radiation therapy is one of the best treatment methods. Surgery is also a good treatment method when the cancerous tissue is confined to only a particular area and has not been metastasis at distant places. Surgery is not done if the patient has complications in its present health conditions such as cardiovascular diseases. There are several other treatment methods but their effective frequency depends upon how the patient's body reacts.

Lung cancer can only be treated with medicine if detected at an early stage the most commonly used treatment methodology is chemotherapy. The highly recommended chemotherapy treatment is combined with other drugs.
In some people, only one type of therapy is required for the treatment however in few people a combination of different therapies is required depending upon the type of cancer and its advancement rate.

Cancer can be treated only with medication. One of the effective methods is using chemotherapy; in chemotherapy a drug is given to the patient the drug travels in the whole body and kills all the tumor cells that have been metastatic to distant places. Some drugs mostly used are paclitaxel (Taxol), pemetrexed (Alimta), gemcitabine (Gemzar), cisplatin (Platinol), vinorelbine (Navelbine). Some of the best-recommended drugs that are used for the treatment of lung cancer include Erlotinib, Gefitinib, Nintedanib, Afatinib, Sirolimus, Everolimus, and Paclitaxel.
