Neutropenia (Low White Blood Cell Count):

The medication Trodelvy may scale down your neutrophils, a kind of WBC. This is a bit common and can sometimes be severe and responsible for infections that can be hazardous. Your doctor should assess your blood cell counts throughout the treatment. If the WBC count is too low, the dosage of Trodelvy can be reduced. Your doctor may need to give you antibiotics if you develop a fever while your WBC count is low.

Get in touch with your health specialist promptly in case you experience chills, fever, cough, shortness of breath, burning or pain while urination, or other signs of infection.

There are some tips you may follow to help scale down the probability of infection while on treatment with Trodelvy- sacituzumab govitecan:

Diarrhea:

In case of serious dehydration, you will be given fluids and electrolytes for replacing body salts. Your doctor may decrease your dose or stop treatment if your diarrhea is serious and cannot be tackled with anti-diarrheal medications.

There are some tips one can follow to help control diarrhea:

  • Gradually sip cool, clear liquids to stay hydrated
  • Eat frequent, tiny meals that are bland and low in fiber such as white rice, bananas, and toast
  • Do not consume alcohol, caffeine, spicy foods, and limit dairy products and raw vegetables

Allergic and Infusion-Related Reactions:

Trodelvy 200 mg/180 mg can be responsible for causing severe and life-threatening allergic as well as infusion-related reactions during infusion. Let your doctor know promptly know if you get any of the mentioned symptoms during the infusion or within 24 hours: lips, tongue, or throat; swelling of your face, hives; skin rash, itching, or flushing of your skin; fever; lightheadedness, dizziness, feeling faint or pass out; difficulty breathing or wheezing; chills or shaking chills.

Vomiting and Nausea:

Vomiting and nausea are common with injection Trodelvy. Both these can sometimes be serious. Call your health specialist immediately if you have vomiting and nausea that is not managed with the medications prescribed for you. Your health specialist may decide to scale down your dose or stop treatment if your vomiting and nausea is serious and cannot be tackled with anti-nausea medicinal products.

There are certain tips that can be effective:

  • Eat 5-6 tiny meals or snacks throughout the day instead of 3 big meals
  • Consider bland diet, such as crackers and toast
  • Prefer small amounts of food, enriched with calories
  • Slowly sip cool liquids such as apple juice, ginger ale, or tea throughout the day to stay hydrated
  • If you are puking, frozen juice chips or ice chips may help you take in fluids a bit more easily

Fatigue:

It’s quite common for therapy with Trodelvy injection to leave you feeling weak and tired. Help control your fatigue by considering the following tips:

  • Take out time to chill and rest, and plan a schedule that works for you
  • Take tiny naps and try to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night
  • Try to stay alert but talk with your doctor prior to starting a new workout routine
  • Consume plenty of water and eat properly
  • Scale down stress by yoga, meditation, reading, or keeping a diary
